Final day of Bristol’s Shrouds of the Somme display

Today is your last chance to see the Shrouds of the Somme display on College Green.

The free exhibition, created by Somerset artist Rob Heard, has received up to 80,000 visitors, according to Commodore Jake Moores OBE, Chairman of the Shrouds of the Somme.

Each of the 19,240 shrouds represents a British soldiers killed on the very first day of the battle, which ceased 100 years ago today.

UWE Wired spoke to Rob, who hand-stitched each of the shrouds onto wooden figures.

The closing ceremony will take place on College Green between 18:00 and 18:30 tonight.
