The final piece of the Bristol’s newest bridge at Finzels Reach is being lifted into place today.
When completed it will link the new multi-million-pound development across the River Avon to Castle Park and Cabot Circus.
It is expected that by 2019 Finzels Reach will be home to 2,500 people in 437 new apartments, as well as office and leisure space, and a 168-bedroom Premier Inn.
For this reason the new bridge, which will also create a new route between Bristol Temple Meads and Broadmead, was an essential cornerstone of the development work.
The controversial ‘s-shaped’ bridge, designed to minimize the gradient between the two sides, has been floated down the river on barges throughout the week.

It had been hoped that the largest – and final – piece would be placed on Thursday to coincide with the 152nd anniversary of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, but work was delayed.
