Our commitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bower News is committed to producing accurate, fair and responsible journalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a teaching newsroom, we aim to work to professional editorial standards. However, we recognise that errors can occur, and we take all complaints seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are committed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>correcting inaccuracies promptly;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>being transparent about significant errors;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>handling complaints fairly and respectfully.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Requests for corrections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you believe that content published on Bower News is inaccurate or misleading, you may request a correction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the URL or title of the article;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the specific information you believe is incorrect;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(where possible) evidence or supporting information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. How we handle corrections<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All correction requests will be reviewed by the programme staff team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minor inaccuracies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Small errors (e.g. spelling, minor factual slips) may be corrected without a formal notice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Significant errors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We will correct the content as soon as possible;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We will add a clear correction note explaining what has changed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Serious issues<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In certain circumstances, we may:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>amend the article substantially;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>temporarily remove the content; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>permanently unpublish the article.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Complaints about content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may submit a complaint if you believe an article:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>is inaccurate or misleading;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is unfair or lacks proper balance;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>breaches privacy or ethical standards;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>infringes copyright;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or may pose legal concerns (e.g. defamation).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. How to make a complaint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please send complaints to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Email:<\/strong> christopher12.brown@uwe.ac.uk<br><strong>Subject line:<\/strong> Bower News complaint<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help us respond effectively, please include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a link to the content;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a clear explanation of your concern;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>any supporting evidence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. What happens next<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When we receive a complaint, we will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Acknowledge receipt as soon as reasonably possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the content against our Editorial Policy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consult relevant contributors and staff where appropriate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decide on appropriate action<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>no change (with explanation);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a correction;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>an update or clarification;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>removal of content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Timescales<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We aim to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>acknowledge complaints within 2 working days;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>provide a substantive response within 7\u201310 working days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some cases may take longer if they require detailed review or involve multiple parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Student content and learning context<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bower News publishes work created by students as part of a journalism training programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While content is subject to editorial oversight, it reflects a learning environment, and contributors are developing professional practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where appropriate, complaints may also be used as part of the educational process to improve future reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Takedown requests<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will consider requests to remove content where there are valid legal, ethical or safety concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Merely objecting to coverage is not, on its own, a sufficient reason for removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each request will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Right of reply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where appropriate, we may offer individuals or organisations the opportunity to respond to coverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responses may be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>added as an update to an article;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>included in follow-up reporting; or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>published separately where appropriate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">11. Further escalation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are not satisfied with our response, you may wish to pursue the matter through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the University\u2019s formal complaints procedures;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>or other relevant regulatory or legal routes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">12.
