Conscious<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Caf\u00e9 Conscious in Barton Hill has changed its decision to reopen into a Jamaican restaurant after the mass evacuation of Barton House on Tuesday this week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The caf\u00e9 has been set up as a &#8220;safe haven&#8221; for those currently without a home and are <a href=\"https:\/\/en-gb.facebook.com\/cafeconsciousbristol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asking for donations of supplies.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Denise Dixon, the owner expresses that there have been \u201cmore and more volunteers from different communities going out of their way to purchase supplies\u201d for evicted residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She adds that the caf\u00e9 has put together \u201csensory packs for children with autism\u201d themselves and that \u201cextra sized class=\"wp-element-caption\">Supplies donated from local communities and volunteers, including diapers and food.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working for Autism Independence, Dixon speaks upon the issue for evicted children with disorders: &#8220;I know what it is like to have a child with additional needs and we are completely devastated for the parents and the children.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The caf\u00e9 has received many donations for children including clothing, toys, books and educational equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dixon expressed her delight in the contributions made for young people and that the volunteers have \u201ccontacted autism help groups and all the local class=\"wp-element-caption\">Toys, educational books and appliances in caf\u00e9 conscious available for evacuees. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been organised for some children to be given transport from the caf\u00e9 to their schools whilst they are evicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stacey Bowen, a receptionist at Barton Hill Academy has informed that \u201cthirteen families\u201d with the school have been affected by the eviction and that \u201ceveryone is working together to help one another\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doctor Lawrence Hoo, an activist and the owner of CARGO, has been active with donations and has criticised the \u201clack of intelligence\u201d around the situation and claims that there is no emergency plan for mass rehousing in the local area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" class=\"wp-element-caption\">Clothing donated and labelled by child size, from 0-2 years of age.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also spoke about the importance of the caf\u00e9 for those who need emotional support saying that it is the \u201cplace for those who just need someone to talk to as it can be incredibly lonely and stressful\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CARGO owner claims that there have been \u201cmultiple complaints\u201d made from residents surrounding Barton House which were not fixed and that residents have been told they would only be evicted for \u201ca few days but there is now suspicion it will be weeks\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has been three days since the evacuation took
