NHS Bristol etc. (Source: Annual Population Survey, Office for Health Improvements and Disparities)&nbsp;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Greg McLeod, from Bristol, shared he stopped smoking in the early 90s, when \u201ceverybody smoked\u201d, stating that he \u201cwas genuinely really poorly and [his] doctor just said \u2018it\u2019s time to give it up\u2019\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poppy Jackson added she had vaped in the past, however never vaped as a \u201csubstitute or to help her quit\u201d, but confidently stated she found vaping a better alternative to smoking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recent graduate Megan Wiltshire-Lastrajoli shared that she smoked cigarettes and didn&#8217;t like vaping, adding that she found it &#8220;more addictive&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student Tasha Long, a regular disposable vape user, admitted that for her, the practical benefits and ease of single-use vapes outweighs the environmental favourability of buying a reusable vape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"750\" src=\"https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/20231113_144822270_iOS-edited.jpg\" alt=\"Picture shows dozens of cigarette butts on the ground\" class=\"wp-image-38950\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:700px;height:400px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/20231113_144822270_iOS-edited.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/20231113_144822270_iOS-edited-300x188.jpg 300w, https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/20231113_144822270_iOS-edited-640x400.jpg 640w, https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/20231113_144822270_iOS-edited-768x480.jpg 768w, https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/20231113_144822270_iOS-edited-672x420.jpg 672w, https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/20231113_144822270_iOS-edited-681x426.jpg 681w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These findings come soon after the recent announcement of <a href=\"https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/2023\/12\/08\/bristol-schools-worry-new-nhs-scheme-will-promote-vaping-amongst-teens\/\">Bristol\u2019s participation in the \u2018Swap to Stop\u2019 scheme<\/a>, where cigarette packs are traded in for vape kits as a \u2018less harmful\u2019 alternative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This measure has received some backlash from medical professionals and school teachers, amongst others, after being accused of promoting vaping, which is still a harmful practice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whilst the general consensus amongst Bristolians is that vaping may be a better alternative to traditional cigarette smoking, many shared a sentiment of skepticism about them being healthier altogether.
