{"id":39377,"date":"2023-12-15T14:02:52","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T14:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/?p=39377"},"modified":"2023-12-15T14:02:53","modified_gmt":"2023-12-15T14:02:53","slug":"20th-community-album-released-by-south-west-music-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/2023\/12\/15\/20th-community-album-released-by-south-west-music-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"20th community album\u00a0released by South West music charity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"480\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 848 \/ 480;\" width=\"848\" controls src=\"https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/OTRXXDRAFT3.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actiontrackperformance.co.uk\/education-and-community\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.actiontrackperformance.co.uk\/education-and-community\">Actiontrack<\/a>&#8216;s On The Record project features young musicians, from 11-18, from across the West Country writing and recording their original songs. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project, supported by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.soundfoundationsomerset.org.uk\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.soundfoundationsomerset.org.uk\/\"> Sound Foundation Somerset,<\/a> has been running since 2013. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nick Brace, artistic director, announced the start of On The Record 21 on Monday 11 December after the 20th record released just last week, with a new track launched daily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The release of this album marks the 10<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the project overall which started in Taunton, 2013. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: On The Record 20 - Materials\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/4taaX52De4jlrWfP8t6cvm?si=GFjJGEdqQ-KI7RIDOFgvGQ&#038;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Full On The Record20 album<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each record explores a theme, previously featuring: climate change, decades, freedom (post lockdown) and isolation (during lockdown). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Brace tells us that On The Record attracts young people who want to work in the music industry. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The young participants produce, release and collaborate during the real time album making project and it is released internationally online. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is free to take part in and students come back regularly, and Mr Brace says that participants \u201cdefinitely change during the process\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the things they learn, Mr Brace continued, \u201cis that the musicians don\u2019t have to play it all.
