However, there may be serious implications for the planet as a result of frenzied clothes purchasing. According to the UN every year 92 million tonnes of textile waste is produced globally.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1080\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1920 \/ 1080;\" width=\"1920\" controls src=\"https:\/\/uwejournalism.net\/bowernews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/footlocker.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Shoppers were queued outside Footlocker this morning waiting for it to open. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We took to Broadmead and met many shoppers who were keen to spend. One said &#8220;This is my first Black Friday, I&#8217;m here for Christmas shopping.&#8221; with her friend chiming in with  &#8220;I&#8217;m just here for the cheaper prices&#8221;. While motivations vary, everyone seems to be after a deal. Charity shop retail assistant Emma says that recently they&#8217;re inundated with donations of large amounts of clothes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Some people come in with bags of clothes with tags on that have never been worn, which is great for us, but it makes me think that maybe people are getting a buzz from shopping&#8221;.
