Barton House: Police called to restrict residents after council workers “barricade” themselves in

Police have been called to the tower block after protesters have made their way into Barton House.

Recently evicted residents have gone into Barton House after reports of belongings being removed from the building surfaced.

Council workers have “barricaded” themselves from the protesters and police have been called in to control the situation.

Nick Ballard, the head organiser of ACORN, has tweeted the response from police official who say the “anger is understandable” and that they would “feel the same”.

Bristol City Council have released a statement in the last hour saying, “to clarify, we are speaking with three tenants about the need to empty their properties… no possessions will be removed from other flats”.

The protest begun at City Hall but was cut short due to the reports of possessions being removed.
