Independent shop owner calls to save shop from big corporations and council cuts

The owner of one of Cabot Circus’ few independent shop is calling for more support and better business funding to counter corporate giants.

Beck Prior is the owner of PRIOR a not-for-profit independent art shop.

Despite the government announcement of budget business rates to reform in 2026 to support smaller businesses, Prior is worried it still won’t be enough to support her businesses.

 “We’ve worked too hard to lose everything. Its been and uphill battle keeping PRIOR alive amidst retail giants,” Beck says.
