Joey Barton, the ex-Bristol Rover’s manager, has sparked a row after claiming women should not be involved in men’s football games.
This comes after Barton argued Alex Scott, a sports commentator, should not be commenting on men’s football on a X (Twitter) rant.

Since this, Barton has turned up the heat, appearing on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored show on TalkTV last night to further discuss why he thinks “women shouldn’t be talking about men’s games”.
Barton and Morgan were joined by Pearl Davis, an American controversial figure on social media. She expressed her opinions on women in men’s football games, agreeing with Barton that men should be commentating on games.

While on the show Barton said: “You can’t be there to fit this woke agenda that we’ve currently got going on in society”.
Barton compared female football commentators to football personalities Mark Chapman and Rory Smith, saying they “earned the right via hard work over a long period to get into that space.”
Laura Woods, a sports presenter, advised Barton to have private conversations with broadcasters if he feels that strongly about women in men’s games.
She said: “These tweets only encourage a pile on for the women getting on with their jobs. Or was that the intention?”
Joey’s entitled to his opinion. If he feels that strongly about women in the men’s game he could ask for a private conversation with the broadcasters & state his case.
