The Made in Bristol craft fair will take place on Saturday, featuring over 125 makers local to Bristol. The fair aims to support small independent artists.
The event will take place at the Bristol Beacon, a year after its reopening, located right in the heart of Bristol City Centre.
The event will provide makers with a space to sell their crafts, in the run-up to the Christmas period, which is a vital time for many craft traders.
Lisa Woods, founder of Wild Grove is a local trader, said that this fair “is the most important one (for them) and it keeps getting bigger”.
Made in Bristol’s fairs have previously had large numbers of attendees. Bristol shoppers are showing little sign of stopping buying from independent businesses. For example, Gloucester Road has very recently been nominated as one of the best roads for independent shopping in the UK.
Hopeful ahead of Saturdays event, a participating woodcraft trader Steve Bruun, Founder of Bruun said: “People are doing more research into buying sustainably, buying from independent, buying less for better quality”.
Bruun discussed also that although you may pay more [than non-independent brands] but you are ultimately paying for more bespoke, unique items.
The founder of the Made in Bristol gift fair, Bryony Morgan said “We call ourselves a creative capital, I think. People support local creatives… synonymous(ly) with living here, a spirit of the city”.
Morgan also said “It’s their busiest time of year, and it’s nice to have a space that’s big enough to host as many as we can”.
This is the first of 3 craft fairs from Saturday the 23rd of November, Saturday the 7th of December and Saturday the 14th of December.
