Bristol Bears will be kicking off this weekends action as they travel to Harlequins on Friday evening, looking to sustain their strong start to the season.

The match will be Harlequins prop Joe Marler’s’ final game, following the announcement of his retirement from professional rugby on Wednesday. Marler won 95 caps for England.

In the Championship, Bristol City return to Ashton Gate to host Plymouth on Saturday afternoon, after a narrow loss away to Watford in midweek.

Following two successive 1-0 defeats, both of which have seen the Robins rue numerous missed chances, Liam Manning’s men will be looking for a strong response.

Elsewhere, Bristol Rovers will be without manager Matt Taylor as they travel to Yorkshire to face promotion hopefuls Barnsley on Saturday afternoon.

Taylor is taking a leave of absence due to an ongoing family emergency. Assistant manager Wayne Carlisle will take interim charge along with coach David Horseman.

In the Premiership Women’s Rugby, Bristol Bears Women will be making the short trip North to face Gloucester-Hartpury at Kingsholm.

Bears will be welcoming Holly Phillips and Holly Aitchison back from injury, as they look to build on their victory over Trailfinders last Saturday.
