Wind and rain is expected to batter parts of the south-west as Storm Darragh ramps up, with potential danger to life across England.
The Met Office have now issued a rare red weather warning for tomorrow in the south-west of England and parts of Wales, including areas of Bristol, Bath, Somerset and Gloucestershire.
Severn Bridge was closed in both directions overnight as Storm Darragh brought winds of over 46mph. Throughout today, the Met Office have placed a yellow warning for wind across England.
There is also a yellow warning for rain across parts of Wales including Newport. The various weather warnings will remain in place until Sunday.
The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Bristol Frome catchment as river levels continue to rise. This is predicted to impact Chipping Sodbury.
The agency is warning those in areas with a flood alert to avoid walking, cycling or driving through any flood water. They have also recommended having insurance documents and medication on hand in case of evacuation.
The Met Office named Storm Darragh Thursday morning, forecasting winds of up to 70-80mph around western coasts, especially in Devon and Cornwall.
National Highways have warned to take extra precaution when driving if weather conditions become challenging. They have advised drivers to complete vehicle checks before heading out, such as checking tyre pressure and tread which can help reduce the risk of breakouts and incidents.
Flood alerts are also in place for the River Chew, Mid Bristol Avon, Upper Bristol Avon, Little Avon, and Vale of Berkeley catchment areas, in addition to Bristol Frome catchment.
