Bristol’s Labour Party will back Helen Godwin to become the next Mayor of the West of England.
Godwin has been endorsed by figureheads such as the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and former City Mayor, Marvin Rees, for the role.

The former-twice-elected councillor for Southmead says she has a “reputation as someone who makes things happen,” after her tenure as a member of the Women, Children and Young People’s cabinet.
In her pledge, Godwin made numerous claims for what she wants to bring to the area, with ideas for revamped public transport, including reliable buses for every area, free travel to 16-19 year olds and more trains.
She wants to tackle the housing crisis to “build a region where people feel connected and supported.”
Helen Godwin will be facing former Lord Mayor Steve Smith of the Conservative Party, Heather Mack of the Green Party and an undecided Liberal Democrat candidate.
