A man was found guilty yesterday of murdering 19-year-old Eddie King Muthemba Kinuthia in Bristol.
Zachariah Talbert Young, 27, was convicted of stabbing Eddie in Grosvenor Park, St Pauls, in July 2023.
CCTV showed two men sharing an e-bike in the park late at night.
Kinuthia approached the men and was stabbed several times before they rode away.
Paramedics arrived within minutes, but Kinuthia’s injuries were too severe for him to survive.
Young and 22-year-old Paul Elijah Hayden were also found guilty of attempted murder in a separate attack on a man in February 2024.
The victim in that incident was stabbed multiple times in Easton Way but survived thanks to fast medical treatment.
“Today’s verdicts have been a long time coming for Irene, Eliud, Elliott, and the rest of Eddie’s family,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Almond.
“Sadly, nothing can bring Eddie back… but Bristol’s streets are safer now that Zachariah Talbert Young and Paul Elijah Hayden will remain behind bars for many years to come.”
Detectives used CCTV and phone records to link Young to the murder.
Hayden also faced a murder charge, but the judge ruled there was not enough evidence to prove he took part, so the jury found him not guilty of Kinuthia’s killing.
A third person, Remi Hitchcock, 30, was cleared of helping the offenders in Kinuthia’s murder.
The verdicts were delivered after five weeks of evidence at Bristol Crown Court.
Both men remain in custody and will be sentenced soon.
