Engineers believe that the collapse of Pero’s Bridge could of been caused by external vibrations, potentially from loud music.
Councillor Andrew Brown, head of the harbourside committee at Bristol City Council, said today: “Our engineers believe that a potential cause of the further collapse could have been external vibrations, potentially from someone playing loud music through a sound system adjacent to the bridge structure.
“We are aware of some vibrations being felt on the bridge during an inspection on the day prior to the collapse.”
Cllr Brown also said Pero’s Bridge was intended to be removed two days after it collapsed into the water last weekend.

He said there was already a scheme in place to remove the bridge before it collapsed on October 31.
Cllr Brown added: “However, the removal was disrupted by cranes not being delivered on time due to the storm(Austen).”
Earlier this week, Pero’s bridge was submerged in the water. The council plans to remove the bridge ”at some point next week” said Cllr Brown.

He estimated that it won’t be reopened until “some point next summer”.
The loss of Pero’s bridge has affected commuters in the area. Harbourside resident Cameron Woodhouse said the loss of the bridge ”makes my commute longer”.
