A leading robotics company based in Bristol is developing technologies to improve the lives of disabled communities.
Researchers across Bristol have joined together at UWE Frenchay Campus to mark the 20th anniversary of Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL) this month.
The event celebrated the advancements in assistive technology, showcasing the works of the practitioners at the facility.
There are 16 million disabled people in the UK, according to Scope UK.
BRL say their vision is to work together to help improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities.
Jakub Jezierski, BRL’s operational support manager, said: “We focus on collaboration and working with people and solving actual issues, there needs to be an outcome, Working with the NHS, people with disabilities, people with needs.”
Questions remain about the affordability of this technology.
He goes on to state that publicly funded projects get limited funding.

BRL have developed devices which Jeizierski describes as “simple bits you can add to existing technology”.
He added: “The more simple you can make it, the more accessible you can make it.”
BRL has recently announced their plans to partner up with businesses in the South East of England, working to integrate robotics into everyday life.
He stressed: “When we talk about robotics, it is not that we are making these machines. It is about how we can implement different bits of technology into every day technology to support it.”
