A restaurant owner says she supports the scheme to pedestrianise Denmark Street, adding it will help the traders and elevate the centre of Bristol.
Christina Kremmyda, owner of Hat Bistro, worked with Bristol City Council in the trial period, between March 2022 and September 2023.
The £700,000 investment is set to transform Denmark Street, near the bristol Hippodrome, with plans to make it safer and more accessible for pedestrians and improve cycling facilities.
She said: “The plan will offer a breath of life into the street’s independent businesses.
“It will make it a place people can come, sit down, relax, enjoy the theatre. Stay more to the street, stay more to the city.”

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority has confirmed the funding, and will start construction early next year.
Pedestrians and cyclists make up more than three-quarters of those using Denmark Street.
The plan will see the installation of removable bollards, raised pedestrian crossings, new cycle routes, four public benches and eight new planters.
A new zebra crossing will also be added on Frogmore Street, outside Trenchard Street car park, to make it easier for pedestrians to get around.
